Consign ItPoint of Sale

For vendor malls, antique malls & consignment shops

Ring up the sale. Collect the rent. Pay every vendor right.

Consign It is a point of sale built around booths and vendors: every item rings up under its booth and vendor, rent and late fees come out of payouts automatically, and checks, payroll, and the tax forms - W-9s, 1099s, W-4s, I-9s, W-2s, and every state's withholding form - are done in the same program, under one File and Pay It button. It runs on your own computer, works without the internet, and you pay for it once.

  • Windows 7 through 11
  • Works when the internet is down
  • Installs from a USB stick in about a minute
  • No monthly fee

Features

Made for how a vendor mall actually runs

Booth rent, vendor payouts, and year-end paperwork are the jobs that eat a mall owner's week. Consign It puts them next to the register instead of in a spreadsheet.

RegisterFast checkout

  • Six transactions open at once, and hold a sale to finish later
  • Split payments: cash, check, card, gift certificate, and digital payments
  • Each line carries its booth and vendor; vendor sales apply themselves
  • Tax-exempt reseller sales with the reseller's tax number on the receipt
  • Receipts: customer copy, store copy, or both, with a barcode and QR code
  • Optional barcode scanning, and the cash drawer opens by itself

BoothsRent and late fees

  • Assign booths with a rent rate: weekly, every two weeks, or monthly
  • Collect rent from a check box at the bottom of the screen
  • Late fees and arrears worked out for you, and a receipt prints for every rent payment
  • A late rent letter emails itself to vendors who are behind
  • Unpaid rent comes out of the vendor's payout automatically
  • Rental Income report shows who's paid and who's behind

VendorsPayouts and paperwork

  • Vendor lookup, vendor records, and an archive of past vendors
  • Each vendor can get a daily sales email
  • Pay vendors monthly or one at a time, and print the checks
  • File and Pay It: checks, payroll, 1099s, W-2s, the tax forms, and IRS e-filing behind one button
  • Vendor Pay Report prints itself on the 1st of the month
  • 1099s, e-filed with the IRS through its free IRIS system - Consign It fills in the IRS's own upload file
  • Your own vendor application and the IRS W-9, filled in from the vendor's record and printed to sign
  • Each vendor's application, W-9, and 1099s kept in their own file

ReportsClose out the day

  • End of Day report that warns about unfinished sales and counts the drawer
  • Bank deposit slip printed with it, filled in with the day's cash and each check
  • Monthly sales tax with a daily ledger
  • Booth profits, payment-method comparison, cost of goods sold
  • Layaway reports and overdue layaway letters
  • Export to QuickBooks or Google Sheets

StaffEmployees and payroll

  • Time clock with a button for each employee

  • Weekly payroll from time-clock hours, with withholding
  • W-2s at year end, filled in from each employee's paychecks
  • Admin password guards voids, checks and payroll, employee files, and bank details

PaperworkTax forms, filled in

  • The real IRS and USCIS forms - W-9, 1099-NEC, W-4, W-2, and I-9 - plus every state's withholding form
  • What's on file is typed in for you; they finish it, print it, and sign
  • Each employee's application, W-4, I-9, W-2s, and state form kept in their own file
  • Check one box each year to download the newest forms, or let them download overnight
  • Not in the United States? One check box turns the US forms off

StoreEverything else

  • Layaway and money down, from the register or its own tab
  • Gift certificates and sold/hold slips
  • Inventory imported from Excel, LibreOffice, OpenOffice, or CSV - all of a vendor's items at once, picked from a list; stock goes down as items sell
  • Free companion programs - LibreOffice and Firefox - found, downloaded, and installed with one click
  • Every register links to the office computer - no server, numbered automatically
  • Nightly backup to a USB stick it names for you (Consign It Backup 1, 2, 3...), with a warning when it's 90% full; keep 90 days of detail or all of it

Good to know

Each separate store front is its own store and needs its own store license and office copy ($748).

One-computer store? The office computer can ring up sales too, as Register 1, for the same $748.

License keys are emailed as a small file and entered on the program's Activation tab. Nothing you entered during the trial is lost.

Keep your own card processor. There's no processing contract with us.

Free trial

Try every feature free for 30 days

The trial is the whole program. Set it up with your real vendors and booths, and if you buy, keep everything you entered.

  1. Get the trial USB stick

Ask Heirloom Software LLC for a Consign It USB stick (see Contact).

  2. Double-click Install Consign It

Install the office computer first, then each register. It installs by itself and puts the Consign It icon on the Desktop. No administrator password needed.

  3. Use it for 30 days

Every screen works - during the trial the office computer rings up sales too, so you can try it all on one computer. Reports say SAMPLE across the page until the store is licensed.

  4. Enter your license key

Load the license file on the Activation tab. Everything you entered stays exactly as it was.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is there a monthly fee?

No. The first year is $748 to start (the store license and the required office copy), plus each extra register once. From the second year it's $700 a year for the whole store, every register included - a renewal key each year, never a monthly bill. The optional $120 yearly plan adds phone and remote help, updates, and encrypted off-site backup (coming soon).

Do I need the internet?

Not to ring up sales. Everything runs on your own computer, and the tax forms come with it. The internet is only used for the daily vendor emails, sending suggestions to tech support, remote support, and downloading the new tax forms each year - which you can set to happen at night.

Do I need a server for more than one register?

No. The office computer keeps the store's information and every register links to it over your store's network. Install the office computer first, then on each register run the installer from the USB stick and choose "This is a register." Registers are numbered for you, starting with Register 1. Keep the office computer turned on while the registers are in use.

Why is the office copy required?

The office computer keeps your store's information, so the registers at the counter only ring up sales. If a register breaks, nothing is lost. A store with only one computer uses the office computer as its register too.

Can I keep my credit card processor?

Yes. Consign It records card payments and their approval numbers; it doesn't process cards and doesn't tie you to a processing contract.

What happens when the trial ends?

Everything you entered stays. The program locks until a license key is entered on the Activation tab, and then it all opens right back up.

What if the computer breaks?

Consign It backs up to a USB stick every night - it names each stick in order (Consign It Backup 1, 2, 3...), warns you when one is 90% full, and walks you through switching to the next. You can also have the office computer save your newest sales to the stick every 10 minutes. Choose whether to keep 90 days of detailed sales or all of your history; year-to-date totals are always kept.

Can my vendors see their sales?

Yes. Once email is set up, each vendor can get an email of the day's sales, and the Vendor Pay Report prints itself on the 1st of the month.

Does it do 1099s and the other tax forms?

Yes: W-9s and 1099s for vendors, and W-4s, I-9s, W-2s, and the state withholding form for employees - the government's own forms, with what's on file typed in, kept in each person's file. It walks you through e-filing the 1099s in the IRS's free IRIS system (the replacement for FIRE), from applying to sending. Every state is covered. Outside the United States, or a CPA does your tax paperwork? One check box turns the U.S. tax forms off.

Does it make out the bank deposit?

Yes. The End of Day report's last page is a deposit slip - a bank copy and a store copy - filled in with the day's cash, each check, and your bank's name and account number.

We're not in the United States. Do we need the tax forms?

No. One check box in Settings turns off every US tax form, and they're out of sight everywhere in the program.

Can I bring in my vendors from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Import vendors, resellers, employees, and inventory from Excel, LibreOffice, OpenOffice, or CSV. Each one has a sample sheet with the right columns and example rows to type over - as a LibreOffice spreadsheet linked to Consign It, or in Google Sheets. Remote setup help is $149 if you'd like us to do it.

Does it run on a Mac?

The installer is for Windows 7 through 11. A computer helper can run Consign It on a Mac or Linux from its source code.
